Our Goal

To offer a program that enables passionate cyclists to grow and develop. We provide a pathway that can lead towards professional cycling, with an emphasis on personal improvement and shared experiences. Our program includes racing in the ProVelo Super League in Australian and a comprehensive Continental Program in Europe.

What We Do

Meridian Bikebug is our Oceania-based UCI Women’s Continental Team that competes in the third tier of international events in Oceania and Europe. It is part of our broader cycling development program registered in Australia.  Our program brings together development pathways, comprising riders in the elite and U23 categories with a focus on Australian and New Zealand riders. We also work with Junior (U19) riders in collaboration with CT Jonge Renners Roeselare in Belgium to provide team racing opportunities, mentorship and athlete development.

Purpose

Since 2021 we have worked to create opportunities for women to develop their impact in the sport of cycling. We have lowered the barriers to progression and worked to develop a program that allows women who race bikes to develop at their pace. By focusing on the whole-of-person development we are not defined by our latest race results, but by the progress we have made.

What is important to the Meridian Blue Cycling program is the personal growth that comes from facing into the challenges that our sport provides us. We will benefit from working in a team of exceptional humans who choose this path.

Equipment

Giro Aries Spherical Road Helmet Matte White

A helmet that feels like it isn’t there: the all-new Aries™ Spherical is like nothing before. Its sleeker form and lighter weight (only 270 grams in size medium, CE certification), deliver sensational comfort and cooling power. Spherical Technology, Giro’s ball-and-socket design powered by Mips, adds protection by redirecting energy away from the brain in certain impacts, and Progressive Layering with dual densities of Nanobead EPS foam adds more comprehensive energy management.

24 Wind Tunnel vents are maximized by the AURA II Reinforcement Arch, while a plush DryCore™ brow pad manages sweat and combines with a network of intricately engineered deep internal channeling to elevate comfort. From the proven reliability and adjustability of the Roc Loc® 5+ Air fit system, to full lower hardbody coverage to enhance durability, to the meticulous production quality, the Aries is state-of-the-art performance, protection, and style.

Giro Regime II

Take charge of the road with full-featured performance and comfort.

To make a full-featured shoe that can handle extended miles and hard roads, Giro started with an ultralight monofilament mesh Synchwire upper that fits and feels like a second skin, then added thermal-welded TPU for structural support and resistance to grit and grime. Secure, micro-adjustability on the fly comes from the BOA® Fit System featuring Dual L6 Dials. And finally, the advanced carbon composite plate ensures efficient power transfer and responsive feel at the pedals, while allowing 5mm of adjustment for optimal cleat positioning.

Cervelo R5

The R5 is legendary. From the limits-shattering R5CA to PFP’s winning Tour de France Femms, R5 has been part of Cervelo’s story for over two decades. This all-new R5 is an incredibly light (5.97kg in RED and Dura-Ace builds) road bike that’s also stiff enough to compete at the highest levels of professional cycling—as Pauline Ferrand-Prevot proved when she rode it to victory at this summer’s Tour de France Femmes.

It’s easy enough to make a light bike, but to make a light bike that’s stiff enough to accelerate quickly and transfer power from the sport’s biggest motors? That’s another challenge entirely. R5 is the bike for big days in the high mountains of the Tour de France, and the punishingly steep climbs of the Vuelta a Espana. Bikes built for the mountains must not only accelerate rapidly and climb exceptionally, but descend confidently and predictably. While the UCI mandates a minimum weight of 6.8kg, those of us in the ‘mere mortal’ category will benefit from having the lightest road bike on the market.
